Chengdu Metro steps up preparatory efforts for Universiade around 100-day countdown

March 18th marks a 100-day countdown to the Chengdu 2021 FISU World University Games.Chengdu Metro has been stepping up efforts for a smooth run of the event.
Previously postponed due to the pandemic,the Games are scheduled to open on June 26.
Volunteer work
To pass on the"sustainable,smart,spirited,and sharing"spirit of the Universiade to the people,Chengdu Metro held themed activities in metro stations near the venues for the 2021 Universiade.As part of the activities,three teams of volunteers were established,which comprise not only staff,but also students and ordinary citizens.Currently,there are over 2,400 registered volunteers in the Chengdu Metro Group,all of whom actively shoulder social responsibilities through volunteer work.
Service improvement
To build itself into a globally renowned city for hosting sports events,Chengdu is improving the metro system to provide better transportation services for the games.
So far,82 information counters across the metro network have been upgraded,enabling passengers to acquire information like train location and timetable in both Chinese and English.All the staff members that may directly contact passengers have received English training,so that they can provide better service for international passengers.
In addition,146 station signs were redesigned,making them more consistent in style and more aesthetically pleasing with straightforward information.The group has also made many other improvements,including restroom renovation,floor replacing,accessibility improvement,as well as landscaping.
Securities have been reasonably allocated at each station,and a cooperation system between Chengdu Metro and the police has been established.COVID-19 protocols,health-code scanning,temperature measuring,facemask wearing requirements,and ventilating are all in place.
To ensure transportation capacity,Chengdu Metro purchased another 28 trains,all of which have finished trials so far.It has also carried out detailed capacity analyses of 60 stations,and among them,five critical junctures have been renovated for a higher capacity.
