China is fighting a silent battle with COVID-19 outbreak with the help of new technology, new services and new application programs. Many high-tech enterprises in Sichuan are using this opportunity to innovate and help the country fight the virus.
Constant temperature amplification chip
A novel coronavirus detection product was approved by the National Administration of Drug Supervision on February 22. "Respiratory virus (six types) nucleic acid detection kit (constant temperature amplification chip method)" produce by Chengdu Bo'ao Crystal Core Biotechnology Co., Ltd. is one of them. This product is the world's first multi-target chip for virus nucleic acid detection. The novel coronavirus and other five types of respiratory virus can be detected in 1.5 hours through samples of nasal secretions and throat swabs.
Robot nurse
A robot originally meant for retail service has been rapidly put to hospital use. On February 1, the robot express "Xiangdi" was sent to the isolated area of Chengdu Public Health Clinical Medical Center to serve doctors and patients. Machine workers "Xiaofan" are also providing contactless sales services to many hospitals in Chengdu. This can reduce the stress and workload of medical staff as the robot can complete standardized work.
Online consultation by TCM doctors of Chengdu No.1 Hospital
In the wake of the epidemic, Chengdu launched online consultation services and medical experts from respiratory medicine and infection department provided 7-day 24-hour online follow-up guidance and gave suggestions on home quarantine. West China Hospital of Sichuan University and Chengdu Public Clinical Medicine Center used 5G technology to assist Wuhan medical team to carry out on-site epidemic prevention and control connection, and successfully completed remote consultation of two COVID-19 patients with acute and severe pneumonia.New technology, new services and new application programs have played an important role in the fight against the epidemic.
The first novel coronavirus testing kit research and development lab in Southwest China
From successful development of the multi virus target nucleic acid detection kit in the domain of scientific research to new technologies such as online consultation, remote diagnosis and treatment, artificial intelligence, big data, 5G technology, China has witnessed it all. Products of high technology that are "made in Sichuan" are at the forefront of the fight against COVID-19 and have also provided valuable lessons for other countries to fight against the disease.(By Edina Liang)
